GiJima Guide
GiJima User Guide
-
The GiJima Sekelbos and Rooikrans is a simple- to- use stove that is the product of 25 years of stove research. By following a few simple steps you will be able to cook your food with less smoke and less wood
-
Start the stove by putting a fire starter and very small kindling down the stove chimney.
-
Once the fire is lit, you can begin to push small kindling into the lower entrance – on initial use, burn unit for approximately 1 hour before cooking operations is performed.
-
For optimal performance , wood should be fed into the combustion chamber as often as possible, once a good bed of coal has been established , the fire needs less tending.
-
The rocket stove will burn larger pieces , but it is always preferable to use kindling
-
Wood should be chopped as finely as possible.
-
Only a small amount of wood is necessary for a hot effective fire.
-
Do not overload the stove !
-
Clean the coal and ashes out of the combustion chamber after each firing.
-
A build up of coal will choke the stove and will degrade the stove liner.
-
Do not allow the stove to become filled with coal or ashes.
-
If you are producing an excess amount of coal it might mean that you are feeding too much wood, too quickly, into the combustion chamber.
-
Always use the correct pot stand, Round bottom 3 legged pots used in a circular stand.
-
Flat bottom pots use the grill stand
-
